The
Teacher's Guide is design for use with the coloring book as a
tool to help children build a consciousness about Maya traditional arts and
crafts, their meaning, importance and how they relate to Fair Trade. It is a
resource to help children understand the meaning of "handmade" as
contrasted to "factory made" and an aid to help students to understand
how buying Fair Trade items helps the artisan producers to earn a living wage.
Finally, it serves as a source for understanding basics of the history and principles
of Fair Trade.
The
Guide includes six lesson with the following parts: Background
Information, Objectives, Materials, Vocabulary, Learning Activities, Assessment
and Further Exploration. A separate list of Related Links is also provided.
